Welcome, Kip Tokuda

We’re pleased to announce that Kip Tokuda will be joining our office to work on police recruitment with the SPD 20/20 team. He’ll be partnering with the community and veteran recruitment officers at SPD to develop a plan to recruit new officers who reflect the diversity of experience and background that makes Seattle so special.

Kip is a longtime community activist and advocate for our local kids and social justice issues. He served four terms in our state legislature, representing the 37th District. He is a lifelong resident of Central and Southeast Seattle, with deep personal ties and history as an advocate for those neighborhoods.

“This is a natural next step in the community and social justice advocacy work I’ve been doing my whole career” said Tokuda. “I’ll be looking at our current recruitment plans and connecting with community leaders to see what we can do better to recruit officers who represent Seattle’s values.”

Welcome, Kip!

Not Tokuda ! While in the Legislature, he broke his word to us on public financing for sports stadia, shamelessly. He is not forgotten nor is he forgiven.
