Weekend in pictures

Every weekend I spend a lot of time in the community, talking to people and learning about their work to make Seattle a better place. I’d like to share some of what I saw last weekend with you.

First stop on our Wedgwood neighborhood visit: Van Gogh Coffee House
Per Johnson, Vice President, Wedgwood Community Council, talks about neighborhood issues at the Audubon Society offices
The Audubon Society also runs a retail store for all your birding needs
New movable benches designed for the community area at Hunter Tree Farm. Neighbors worked to get grant funding to improve this space which now hosts events like the annual Wedgwood Art Festival.
Their grant from the  Pomegranate Center and Tully’s Coffee helped neighbors to brighten up the area with these decorative poles.
The coalition and the Consulate-General of Japan hosted an event at Seattle Center honoring the one year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
Buddhist ceremony honors the victims of the tsunami.

Thanks for keeping us informed. I attended International Women’s day events and want to put in my plug for full recognition of Nickelsville. I’d like to see them develop an eco village there. They need utilities and sewage. It seems that the city needs to repudiate the so called “10 year plan” to end homelessness. It’s a failure. Can you do that?

I am impressed with your concern for our neighborhoods. Please plan to visit programs that are funded by the city to get a See for yourself of the work. Catholic Community Services, African American Elders Program. Margaret Boddie

Isn’t a Buddhist ceremony the same as worshiping devils? – the Bible says so. Any worship not to the God of the Bible is devil worship…
