Every weekend I spend a lot of time in the community, talking to people and learning about their work to make Seattle a better place. I’d like to share some of what I saw last weekend with you.

Third Annual Lunar New Year Walkathon celebrating the Year of the Dragon
Dedication of a memorial at Dr. Jose Rizal Park, honoring Filipino and Filipino American veterans who fought in the Philippines during World War II and survived the Bataan Death March
Rosendo Luna and Mariano Berona, both veterans of the Bataan Death March, with Larry Cambronero, Chairman of the Memorial Monument Committee, whose father Isaac ‘Ike’ Cambronero fought in the war and passed away last year, and Washington State Congressman Jim McDermott
The Seattle Hotel Association's annual Evening of Hope Gala raised over $400,000 for the Seattle Police Foundation, supporting programs like our Mounted Patrol Unit
