There has been some recent reporting on hiring in the Seattle Police Department. Here’s our policy:

We are continuing maintenance hiring to hit the target for funded positions. Specifically, SPD exceeded its hiring target in 2008 and, with the down economy in 2009, fewer officers than forecasted left the department. SPD is now slowing down because hiring exceeded the target.
