Deadline to enroll for college scholarship is almost here

The College Bound Scholarship Program will guarantee tuition to a Washington public college or university to any student on the federal free and reduced lunch program — if that student maintains a 2.0 grade point average and does not commit a felony during their entire high school career. Students have to enroll in the scholarship program by the 8th grade to be eligible. And the deadline is almost here.

Our goal is for 100 percent of eligible 8th graders in Seattle to be enrolled in the College Bound Scholarship program by the June 30, 2011 deadline. We’ve made progress — 77% of eligible 8th graders have enrolled, up from 68% a few weeks ago. Your help is making a difference. But we can’t stop now! It’s our responsibility to help our children, especially when many families cannot afford to send their kids to college.

Even if you don’t have a child who qualifies, you probably know someone who does. Please share the above information and the following link as widely as possible. Students may apply for the College Bound Scholarship online at

Here are some things you can do to help us meet the goal.

Do you use Facebook? Click the “F” at the bottom of this post to share this information with all your friends. Use Twitter? Click the white bird to tweet this info.

No social media? No problem. Just copy this post into an email and send it to your friends and family – even those without eligible kids. The more people know about this opportunity, the more students we can help.

Word of mouth is powerful too! If you meet someone who might be eligible, just tell them to search online for College Bound Success or call 1-888-535-0747.

Time is running out. The deadline to sign up is June 30th. Will you help us make sure every student in Seattle has a chance to succeed? Sign up here!
